Enjoy a relaxing and immersive day learning the art of foraging and preparing wild food recipes together on the beautiful Dartington estate.
You will learn how to safely identify and gather seasonal wild plants, where they grow and how to work with wild flavours. Myrtle will share her wealth of knowledge about plants covering folklore, nutritional qualities and culinary uses. You will experience sensory techniques to uncover the hidden depths of plants that can help reconnect us with the natural world.
This course is suitable for those with no experience and for folk wishing to develop their existing foraging knowledge, and anyone wishing to develop their knowledge and relationship with nature.
This foraging course is led by Myrtle Cooper, a forager, wild food and ecological sustainability educator and facilitator. Myrtle founded Wild & Curious Foraging and has been leading wild food courses since completing an MSc in Ecological Food Systems, where she developed sensory and intuitive ways to reconnect people with plants, the land and ourselves, experiences that build our capacity and improve wellbeing.
Myrtle specialises in teaching about wild edible plants, and delights in sharing immersive techniques for learning the art of foraging. You are invited to enter into the life world of plants, and to take the time to develop your own unique relationship with them.
What to bring
Please bring your own packed lunch (refreshments are provided)
Sturdy, waterproof boots or wellies
Enough clothing to keep you warm standing or sitting outside
A drink of water
Any snacks you may need
Any medication you may need
A notepad and pen (optional)
A couple of clean glass jars with lids
A basket or bag for foraging (if you have one)
Wild food courses go ahead whatever the weather. We are not able to offer refunds but in exceptional circumstances may be able to transfer your booking to another date.
No liability accepted for accidents or incidents. It is generally recommended not to try new new foods during pregnancy and this applies to wild food. On a wild food course the risks of foraging including contamination, pollution, poisons and contraindications are explained.
